We do not recommend dark colours or gloss finishes for high wear applications. The use of dark colours or gloss finishes requires more care and maintenance than lighter coloured or lower gloss surfaces.
Formica decorative surfaces are no different than any other material in that darker colours will always show scratches and a superficial wear and tear more readily than lighter colours.
Whilst Formica decorative surfaces exceed the requirements for fade resistance under the relevant Australian Standard, they should still be protected from strong direct sunlight. This is particularly important for furnishings used in rooms with large north or west facing windows. Continuous exposure to strong, direct sunlight may cause discolouration or fading of the surface over time.
